Crystal House

12 floors up on the rooftop of an existing apartment complex is a brand new covered entertainment and amenities area for the residents of Crystal House in Arlington, Virginia.

The architect on the project used steel columns, beams and latilla (in geometric planes) to create a 20′ x 37′ Open Air Steel Structure over the outdoor grill, fireplace and pool table area. Residents enjoy shaded views of The Pentagon, The White House and the Potomac River from this incredible new space.

When limited by outdoor space, developers are looking to the sky and converting rooftops into outdoor gardens and communal spaces – a trend we expect to continue.
